Dave was my fifth grade teacher. I was not an ideal student and frequntly was called to "assume the position".  My sister Mary Lou had Mr. Cargill the year before me and she was an ideal student. My family attended Dave's wedding during my sister's year as Dave's student. Dave was the head coach of the junior varsity football team and led us to an undefeated season in my Sophmore season. He was my wrestling coach for 4 years. Dave was strict about following his rules and I learned much from him concerning discipline. He also led by example and always taught us about good sportsmanship and showing proper respect for other coaches and officials. 

I have often thought of his sayings during my life and I am grateful to have had him as a role model.
