Obituary for Jean A. Stellwagen (Snow)

Caledonia/Chili

Passed away February 20, 2023 after a very brief illness at age 89. She is predeceased by her husband of nearly 55 years, Richard G. “Dick” and brother and sisters-in-law, Herbert G. (Eileen) and Jane M. Stellwagen. She is survived by her children; Richard (Gina) Stellwagen, Susan (Jeffrey) Deragon, Stephen (Tammy) Stellwagen, grandchildren, Benjamin (Erin) Deragon, Emily (Jay Valentich) Deragon, Chelsea (Nick) White, Holly Stellwagen, Tyler Stellwagen, Jennifer (Trevor) Smith, Christine (Jimmy) Peck, eight great-grandchildren.

Family was the center of Jean’s world. She loved her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and grand pups. Spending time with them by the pool, discussing, history, recent events, what talk shows she liked or didn’t, memories of her past and what books she recently read, which was hard to keep up with as she was she was a voracious reader, often reading 4 or 5 books a week. While living in Chili, she had a vegetable garden which fed her family during the summer. She took pride in the red rose hedges which ran down both sides of their home. Jean and Dick travelled extensively after his retirement. They visited Europe several times, a road trip across the United States, visiting their family in San Diego along with many cruises. After her husband’s death, Jean moved to Caledonia where she made many good friends at bible study and silver sneakers.

A very special thank you to aide, Penny Martin who Jean referred to as her best friend and aides Lauri Philp and Margie Parnell. We take comfort in the fact that she is now with her beloved husband, Dick.

Friends may call Tuesday, February 28, 2023 from 1-3 P.M. with her funeral service to follow at 3 P.M. at the Alhart Funeral Home, 3068 W. Main Street, Caledonia. Interment Mumford Rural Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Focus on the Children, P.O. Box 31, Caledonia, NY 14423.
