G. Ernest ”Ernie” Donnan, passed away peacefully at home on Monday Sept 26th 2022 he was 84 years old. Ernie was born Feb 6th 1938 in Canandaigua, NY to the late Stewart and Ruth (Webb) Donnan.
He graduated from York Central High School, and was proud to be a captain of the Football and Basketball teams. He went on to attend Cornell University. From a young age until he retired, Ernie worked on the dairy farm his family has owned for generations in York NY.
An avid golfer, Ernie was a long time member of Stafford Country Club. He and his wife Jan spent many winters at Spring Lake Golf Club in Sebring FL where they made many lifelong friends. A member of the Sports Car Club of America, Ernie raced in the 1960’s at Watkins Glen International with victories to his name.
He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Jan DeMartin Donnan,
step-children Patirica Linfoot-Stallins, John (Pamela) Linfoot Jr. step-grandson William (Megan) Levings and 4 step-great grandsons.
His Brother Thomas M Donnan and sister in law Allie Donnan
Nieces and Nephews Rob (Donna) Donnan, Greg (Jean) Donnan, Gretchen (Mike) Donnan and Aaron (Charity) Donnan. And many great Nieces and Nephews
Ernie was predeceased by his parents and his brother Bruce Donnan.
No prior calling hours. Ernie’s Memorial Service will be held 11 A.M. Wednesday, October 5, 2022 at the York United Presbyterian Church, 2662 Main St., York. Private interment, Pleasant Valley Cemetery, York. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to your favorite charity in Ernie’s name.
