Obituary for Marian M. Guthrie (Martin)
Passed away at age 93, peacefully after a brief illness at Highland Hospital on September 2, 2022. Predeceased by her husband, Jim Guthrie and daughter, Jean Guthrie Sullivan. She is survived by her daughters, Jacqueline Guthrie Van Allen of Mumford, NY and Elizabeth Guthrie of Webster, NY, son-in-law, Sean (Paula Smith) Sullivan of Leicester, NY; grandsons, Conor (Ali) Sullivan of Mumford, NY and Aidan (Mia Mason) Sullivan of Ashville, NC.
Marian faithfully taught kindergarten for 30 years at Caledonia-Mumford Central School. After retiring, she pursued her love of music by playing piano at both St. John’s Home in Rochester, NY and with the vocal group, The Harmonics, at the Genesee Country Village and Museum, Mumford, NY. She blessed the residents and the community thoroughly with her musical talent.
A Celebration of Marian’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Marian’s name can be made to: Alzheimer’s Association 200 Meridian Centre Blvd. Suite 110, Rochester, NY 14618 (alz.org).
