Obituary for Robert G. Redman

Caledonia - Robert George Redman was born on March 3, 1940 to his parents Arthur and Elizabeth Redman of Leroy, NY, although at the age of 2 he went to live with his grandparents Judd and Betty Nelson also in LeRoy. On May 20th Robert passed away peacefully, at the age of 81, in his home of 50 years in Caledonia. He is predeceased by his grandparents Judd and Betty Nelson, his parents Arthur and Elizabeth Redman, brother Luther Redman, sister Audrey Smart, cousin Marion Anderson, and neices Roxanne Tucker, Peggy Smart, and Lynn Redman. He is survived by his wife, of almost 56 years, Jacqueline Redman, his son Christopher Redman, brothers Arthur Redman Jr., Alan (Irma) Redman, sister Beverly Wallace, godsons Cordie Greelea and Mark Miles, goddaughters Gail and Tish Simms, along with a host of in-laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He attended Leroy Central Schools from 1945 to 1958, where he played football as a fullback, and was affectionately known as Robot, by his classmates and teammates. He also enjoyed bowling, in which he won a plethora of trophies, the occasional round of golf, working on cars, and fishing. He also enjoyed watching football on TV, he was a fan of the Steelers via his son Chris, but his all time favorite was the Cleveland Browns. Robert was employed at Lapp Insulator for 35+ years until 1993 when he took an early retirement and became Mr. Mom, kind of! Robert was also a 32nd Degree Mason, in Eureka Lodge #36, Haggai Chapter #41, and Bison Consistory #29.
Robert was a loving husband, father, uncle, cousin, and friend. He will be missed dearly by all that know and love him.
Friends may call 5-8 PM on Friday, May 28, 2021 at the Alhart Funeral Home, 3068 W. Main Street, Caledonia. His Funeral Service will be held 1 PM Saturday, May 29, 2021 at the Second Baptist Church, 957 George Street. Interment will be held at Mumford Rural Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 435 E. Henrietta Rd., Rochester, NY 14620.
