Obituary for June L. Davis (Ball)

On January 2, 2021 at age 95 passed away at LeRoy Village Green.
She was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Bernard D. Davis, her parents, and her sister, Virginia. Survived by her children; Sharon (John) Hosenfeld, Jake (Deborah) Davis, Steven (Cathy) Davis, grandchildren; Brian (Katherine) Hosenfeld, Karin Hosenfeld, Patrick, Timothy (Elizabeth), April (Chris) Cottis, Joshua (Rachel), great grandchildren; Victoria, Alessandro, Mary, Henry, Jessup, Jameson, Jacob, Jerett, Jaren, brother-in-law Franklin (Reva) Davis, many cousins, nieces and nephews, and beloved friends.

June was born on Oatka Avenue in Mumford and was a life-long resident of Mumford-Caledonia, and graduated in 1943 from Caledonia High School. She married Bernard Davis in 1945. She was a member for many years of the Mumford Fire Department and the Mumford Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and the First female Firefighter in Monroe County. She served as the Fire dispatcher and radio operator of the Mumford Fire Department and answered every fire call. She is lovingly remembered by many friends and residents as “Fire Belle.” She wrote a column called “Old Fire Belle” for the Caledonia Advertiser. June loved the New York Yankees, she played the organ and loved to sing, she loved to read, knit, crochet and cook, and she loved her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren. She lived a long, full, and happy life. The family would like to thank LeRoy Village Green for all of the great care and love given to our mother through the years of her residency

Her Graveside Service will be held at 2 P.M. Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at Mumford Rural Cemetery, Flint Hill Road, Mumford.
