Obituary for Vincent J. "Vinnie" Coons

Caledonia
Vincent J. Coons (Vinnie) came into this world on November 16, 1992. He was always hardworking, funny and smart with the warmest loving smile. Vinnie graduated from Cal-Mum in 2010. After contemplating what career path he would take, Vinnie went to Genesee Community College and earned an Associate’s Degree in Accounting. At GCC, Vinnie worked in the Help Center and tutored other students in Math and Accounting. Vinnie continued his education at SUNY Geneseo where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree and then a Master’s Degree in Accounting in 2018. Vinnie was a passionate football fan and his favorite team was the New Orleans Saints. He had plans of someday living in a warmer climate. Vinnie loved nostalgic moments that reminded him of the childhood he shared with his brother and cousins; playing backyard sports, swimming, camping, fishing and playing video games. His love for gaming carried over into his adulthood as a way to hang on to his cherished childhood memories and as a way to stay connected to his brother and friends. Vinnie strived to be the best Uncle he could be and taught Leo where his elbow was at a very young age. Uncle Vin stated, “Miss this little man every single day.” He enjoyed and loved his work family at Complete Payroll in Perry. Vinnie had a post-retirement dream of someday owning a bee farm operation.
Vinnie passed away suddenly at home on March 28, 2020 from Covid-19; predeceased by his best friend/cousin Nick; survived by his loving mother, Marjorie (Sotak); his father, Vincent R.; his dear brother Patrick; his cherished nephew Leo; sister-in-law Nicole and furbro Echo. He is also survived by Aunt Julie, Aunt Wendy and Aunt Jackie; Uncle Mike, Uncle Joe, and Uncle Steve; as well as his cousins – Bill, Clint, Jamie, Joey, Whisper and Katie.; grandparents Joseph A. and Patrica Sotak and Vincent M. and Judy Coons; many, many treasured and dear friends.

Please wear black and gold in honor of his favorite team, The New Orleans Saints.
