Dan Stanton

My mother Lorraine I. “DeVore” Stanton enjoyed a special kinship with her brother. She and Ray were in touch by phone always and often. It is with great fondness I remember the many occasions our families we got together. The whole family, (Ray, Lois, Fred and Debbie) were always cordial, pleasant, and easy to talk too. In all my years I don’t ever remember hearing Ray curse or even raise his voice. I was always personally excited to see and hear about the newest and greatest technology and gadgets that Ray would bring or talk about at the meet-ups. I am fairly sure the first color TV I got to see was a model setup and configured by Ray at his parents house, in North Warren, PA. This I believe was no easy task, and required a special antenna with a special mount and motor to adjust the antenna direction etc. It was a very special treat to travel to the grandparents on Sunday evening to watch the Disney shows on a color TV. He and Elmer Kellerman, his brother-in-law, shared an intense love of photography. I would guess that must have had something to do with his eventually working for Kodak. It was fun to check out all the equipment they would bring to the Christmas get togethers. Don’t know why, but I really miss flash and pop of all the old flash bulbs. The intense lighting for the movies was a little off putting, but the drama of productions was unforgettable. I am certain there must be a fairly large library of super 8 videos they took out there somewhere. A kind gentlemen, I am proud to be his nephew and will definitely miss him dearly.
